Discover the Advantages
of PAVF for Hemodialysis
If you’ve been researching about the benefits of pAVF (percutaneous arteriovenous fistula) as an innovative new procedure to establish vascular access in dialysis patients, you’ve come to the right place! In fact, Advanced Access Medical Care is the first practice in the tri-state area to be able to provide this revolutionary, minimally invasive treatment to our patients.
The Benefits of PAVF for Hemodialysis
Traditionally, surgery was required to create a fistula to establish vascular access for hemodialysis. This typically required numerous interventional procedures over a long period of time for vascular access to be usable for hemodialysis. That’s why pAVF has proven to be such an amazing technique!
If you’ve just become aware of pAVF, here are some of the biggest benefits of the procedure:
Eliminate the Need for a Surgical Incision
Avoid a Hospital Stay Entirely
Ready to Use in a Shorter Period of Time
No matter what your age is, pAVF may be the right procedure for you if you’re in Stage 4 or 5 renal failure and about to start dialysis.
No Surgical Incision
Avoid a Hospital Stay
Ready to Use in Shorter Time
Understanding the PAVF Process
During the pAVF procedure, a tiny catheter device guided by ultrasound serves to establish vascular access for hemodialysis. The entire procedure takes approximately 30 minutes. During your follow-up visit, you’ll receive an ultrasound examination of the fistula. If the fistula is matured, we will mark on your arm where the dialysis team should place your needles for hemodialysis.
